Cover copy has always been a key marketing tool for publishers. It is often the first thing consumers will consult when browsing titles. Good cover copy can mean the difference between a sale and no sale—so it’s important to get it right.
Today we’re back with more thoughts about our favourite sessions from April’s Quantum Conference at the London Book Fair. In our final recap, we present an enlightening conversation that took place between James Daunt and Stephen Page.
Earlier this spring we attended the newly reimagined Quantum conference at the London Book Fair (formerly Publishing for Digital Minds). Publishers gathered in Olympia for a cautiously optimistic day of discussion about the state of the publishing industry. In her introductory comments, Jacks Thomas, Director of the London Book Fair, addressed the event’s new name, reasoning that with digital now engrained in the publishing industry, it only makes sense to talk about it in the larger context of the book business.
A few weeks ago we attended BookNet Canada’s Tech Forum conference in Toronto. The conference brings together the very best talents from across Canada for a lively dialogue on the latest developments, cutting edge market research, and products “to-watch” in digital publishing. It’s one of our favourite conferences of the year, and with 2016 marking the 10th anniversary of the event, there was a palpable enthusiasm among the attendees—and all that before they even rolled out the table full of techy book-themed cookies!
Today we're back with more thoughts on a few of the sessions we attended at Digital Book World.
In March we attended Digital Book World in New York City. An annual favourite of ours, the conference brought together industry professionals, startups and thought leaders for a candid and thoughtful discussion on the trends, challenges and opportunities of digital publishing.
In January, Livres Canada Books organized the Export Exchange conference in Montréal. It was a fantastic day, filled with fresh thinking and new perspectives from our speakers, and spirited conversation from our participants. A big, big, thank you to all who attended and helped us make the day a success!
